Focus areas
Senior Full Stack Engineer
We build tools and datasets to understand and respond to misinformation in India. We aim to support and scale existing misinformation response efforts by creating scrapers for sourcing content from chat apps and social media in India; using machine learning to categorize and classify multilingual, multimedia content; and distributing fact-checked information so that it is accessible to mobile-first audiences. In the process, Tattle aims to enable more transparent research on misinformation on Indian social media. We are seeking an experienced full stack software engineer with experience building scalable web applications to help us achieve our goals. The ideal candidate should value both creative problem solving and writing robust software because our work will oscillate between the two. Backend and DevOps Engineer
We build tech to understand and respond to misinformation. Our work aspires to scale civic efforts to misinformation response. This includes using machine learning to categorize and classify multilingual and multimedia content, detect hate speech; creating web scrapers for sourcing content from chat apps and social media in India; building realtime multiplayer games, and increasing the efficiency of fact checking work. This role focuses on implementing backend APIs and scaling up associated cloud infrastructure in an economical way to handle traffic to our public facing products. We are looking for someone who values their craft and has a knack for systems programming and building web scale solutions. Contract Type: The role will start with a three month contract period and might change to a long term retainer structure after that. The compensation will be market competitive.
Software Engineer
We build tech to understand and respond to misinformation. Our work aspires to scale civic efforts to misinformation response. This includes using machine learning to categorize and classify multilingual and multimedia content, detect hate speech; creating web scrapers for sourcing content from chat apps and social media in India; building realtime multiplayer games, and increasing the efficiency of fact checking work. This is an entry level role (0-1 years of experience). Tattle attracts people who are interested in technology as well as its interaction with social processes. The work is intellectually challenging and will require the engineer to upskill fast on the job. While the work at Tattle provides opportunities to publish in academic venues, this isn't a research role.
