Key Functions: Macro-economic Policy Management: Manages macro-economic policies, fiscal policy, inflation control, and public debt management. Union Budget Preparation: Prepares and presents the Union Budget to Parliament and budgets for state Governments under President's Rule and Union Territory administrations. Capital Markets: Regulates and oversees capital markets and financial market development. External Financial Relations: Enhances external financial relations through engagement with G20, BRICS, SAARC, and other international forums. Indian Economic Service: Manages the Indian Economic Service (IES) cadre.
