Nanaji Deshmukh Krushi Sanjivani Prakalp (PoCRA) is a World Bank-aided climate-resilient agriculture project implemented by the Government of Maharashtra's Department of Agriculture since 2018. The project aims to enhance climate-resilience and profitability of smallholder farming systems in project districts of Maharashtra by promoting climate-resilient technologies, practices, and sustainable agricultural methods. Key objectives include: - Making drought-prone areas drought-free through sustainable agriculture - Enhancing water conservation via efficient irrigation systems (drip, sprinklers) - Building farmer producer organizations (FPOs) and community participation - Providing financial assistance and subsidies for climate-resilient technologies - Market linkage development and skill enhancement for farmers - Soil health management and organic farming support - Gender-sensitive approach with female mobilizers (Krushi Tais) - Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) through Aadhaar-linked accounts The project is implemented across 21 districts covering approximately 6,959 villages. It provides matching grants to farmers for farm-level investments, training programs, and disaster relief support. Headquartered in Mumbai, the Project Management Unit manages implementation across Marathwada, Vidarbha, and North Maharashtra regions.
