The Department of Economic Affairs (DEA), Ministry of Finance, seeks Young Professionals for contractual engagement to support specific and time-bound initiatives across various divisions. This is an excellent opportunity for fresh graduates and early-career professionals to contribute to India's economic policy formulation, financial markets regulation, and infrastructure development. Young Professionals will work alongside senior officials in various divisions including Infrastructure Policy & Planning, Financial Markets, Economic Division, Budget Division, and others. The role offers valuable experience in policy analysis, financial appraisal, economic research, and administrative support in a government setting. Key Focus Areas: • Policy formulation and economic analysis • Financial and project appraisal • Budget preparation and monitoring • Statistical analysis and data research • Inter-ministerial coordination • Speech drafting and presentation preparation
Responsibilities
Support senior officials in policy analysis and economic research across assigned divisions Assist in preparation and compilation of Union Budget documents and state budgets under President's Rule Conduct financial and economic appraisal of development projects and government initiatives Prepare policy notes, briefing papers, and presentation materials for senior management and Cabinet discussions Conduct statistical analysis and data interpretation for economic indicators and budget monitoring Support bilateral coordination activities, particularly with international financial institutions and development agencies Assist in formulation of fiscal policy and macro-economic policy recommendations Participate in inter-ministerial meetings and provide support for policy coordination initiatives Prepare research summaries and assist in drafting legislative and administrative frameworks
Requirements
Essential Qualifications: Master's degree in Economics, Finance, Commerce, Management, or MBA/LLB/LLM/PG Diploma in Law Age Limit: Not exceeding 35 years of age Desirable Qualifications: Additional qualifications, published papers, and research experience in relevant fields Previous experience in government, policy research, or economic analysis Strong proficiency in MS Office, data analysis tools, and statistical software Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Hindi Competencies Required: Analytical and research skills Policy formulation and implementation experience Project appraisal and evaluation capabilities Public finance and economic knowledge
