About this role

Analyze road safety issues, develop strategies and advise on policies/interventions for safer road environments. Lead, manage, execute and implement all road safety activities/initiatives by CUMTA and stakeholder agencies. Liaise with government departments for implementation, support periodic audits, strategy, training, data collection and policy development. Manage accident data collection/analysis/reporting, coordinate with Traffic Data Monitoring and lead demonstration projects for safer road designs.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage all road safety activities and initiatives by CUMTA and stakeholder agencies. Coordinate with government departments for implementation. Support periodic road safety audits. Develop road safety strategy, training programs, data collection systems and policies. Manage accident data collection, analysis and reporting. Coordinate with Traffic Data Monitoring team. Lead demonstration projects for safer road designs. Provide technical advice on policies and interventions. Deliver crash investigation and road safety education training. Prepare Comprehensive Mobility Plans with road safety elements.

Requirements

Graduate Engineering degree in automotive, mechanical, transportation/civil engineering. Minimum 8 years experience in road safety and accident data collection, analysis, crash investigation, research, and working with government agencies. Strong communication skills; technical training delivery (crash investigation, road safety education, awareness). Good understanding of road safety policies, MS Office, AutoCAD, Vehicle Tracking. Leadership in multidisciplinary context. Desirable: Postgraduate degree in road/traffic safety, automotive/civil engineering, certifications/diploma in road safety, international experience, experience in traffic control equipment, knowledge of Tamil. Age: Not >45 as of closing date (exceptions for deserving candidates).
